Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Honeymoon Phase may be sabotaged by 'power struggle', say experts

EXCLUSIVE: While Taylor Swift is busy rocking out on stage and Travis Kelce on a high from his Super Bowl win, it’s clear they’re enjoying the Honeymoon Phase of their relationship – but hardship could be on the horizon.

The celebrity couple are the most-talked about relationship on the planet, and they didn’t even go on a dating show. Taylor Swift told the world she was off the market when she was seen at Arrowhead Stadium last September. Travis Kelce has also been spotted being the doting boyfriend All Too Well, appearing at her concerts and enjoying the PDA on the field when his team wins an NFL game. Although lots of Swifties were hoping the tight end would drop down onto one knee to get engaged to the singer, it didn’t happen. However, if the celebrity did decide to ask Taylor that all-important question less than a year into their relationship, what struggles would they face?

Taylor and Travis’ Honeymoon Phase ‘won’t last long if they get engaged too soon’

We spoke to Orna and Matthew Walters, relationship experts who appeared on Bravo’s The Millionaire Matchmaker, on what Taylor and Travis have to look forward to, and what’s next after the Honeymoon Phase.

Most people enjoy the beginning of dating. Even a music star as big as Tay-Tay can’t escape some of the highs and lows. We’ve seen her rollercoaster love life, using her own experiences to fuel some of the best breakup songs in the charts.

Although she has a long list of ex-lovers, it seems things are going well with the 34-year-old athlete. So what’s in store?

Orna and Matthew Walters of LoveOnPurpose, tell us: “Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are clearly in the Romance Stage, and fun to watch and oooh and aaaah over. Their relationship is under a microscope through extraordinary circumstances professionally and personally. They have yet to experience the mundane day-to-day of sharing their lives.

“Eventually, those feel-good chemicals wear off and you’ll find yourself in the second stage of relationship: The Power Struggle. No couple skips the power struggle stage which is not about overcoming one disagreement: it’s a fight cycle.”

Taylor and Travis’ relationship needs to ‘grow’

It may seem alarming to think of the difficult times while dating, but there is an upside.

The dating gurus continue: “This important stage of development is an individuation that must occur for the relationship to mature and grow. No matter how good a match you two are you’ll lather-rinse-repeat the same argument.”

They added being able to navigate any conflict that appears is a skill for “lasting love”. Although at the beginning “everything is experienced through rose-colored glasses”, it’s important to not get down on one knee unless you’re sure “you can work through your differences.”

The relationship experts had advice for the pair though, on how to make it last.

They said: “Longevity in a relationship comes from having chemistry, compatible lifestyles, shared values, and good communication. While you’re probably aware of your shared chemistry and have some clues that your lifestyles are compatible, you don’t yet know if you share values.

“Slow love allows you to discover if you two can repair and reconnect after a disagreement.

“Life will throw you curveballs and when you share values you have a better chance of navigating difficult times and growing together instead of apart.”

Everyone wants to know about the ring – not the Super Bowl one

Ahead of the Super Bowl game, which we saw Taylor Swift give off signs she’s a ‘different person’ with Travis, everyone was talking about ‘a ring’.

Swifties were obsessed on whether Travis Kelce proposed after the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl. But when he was asked ahead of the game if he wanted to make their own Love Story, he knocked down the rumors.

Trav simply said he was more bothered about getting his own ring – the one winners of the Super Bowl receive. And he’s got that ticked off again now. But it hasn’t stopped fans and others obsessing over it. One jewler even offered to gift a $1m ring to the tight end if he did want to propose. And now, data suggests it’s the exact amount he’d want to spend on the perfect statement piece for Taylor’s ring finger.

It comes after celebrity psychic Adam Norton told us he ‘sees the next 12 weeks’ as significant for the stars. Considering Taylor won a Grammy and Travis stormed the Super Bowl, it’s already lining up to be significant.

It’s a good thing Taylor and Travis’ astrology signs appear to work together. However, their 2024 horoscopes had a secret warning attached.
