The Barbie star who attended the star-studded event with other film icons probably wasn’t expecting to become a meme two weeks into the New Year. Ryan Gosling‘s reaction to one of the winners of the awards show is doing the rounds on social media. The Critics Choice Movie Awards invited the top actors, producers and directors of the Hollywood industry. They came together to celebrate the past year of cinema. Held at the Barker Hanger at Santa Monica Airport, LA, Chelsea Handler hosted the event for the second year in a row.
Ryan Gosling becomes a meme after the Critics Choice Awards
The winners are voted by 600 critics and specialist journalists in what is dubbed a prestigious event during awards season. Although the gong is up there with other prime statues, such as the Golden Globes and the Emmys, the Oscar from the Academy Awards is seen as the top accolade.
However, Ryan Gosling’s win at the Critics Choice Awards could put him in a good spot for upcoming Oscars night in March.
The song I’m Just Ken, which skyrocketed into internet fame through the Greta Gerwig flick Barbie, won in the Best Original Song category. But when the answer was read out by Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos, Ryan just sat there. For a few seconds, his eyes dodge around the room, looking to see how other celebrities are reacting. It’s as if he is questioning to see if it’s really happening.
Applause erupts throughout the room, and Ryan shakes his head in disbelief as he starts to clap.
Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, who wrote the song, make their way to the stage to accept the award. However, Ryan Gosling doesn’t join them to pick up the prestigious Critics Choice Awards celebration.
