Robert De Niro to revisit iconic Taxi Driver role - but it's not what you think
Robert De Niro will be relaying some of his most iconic Taxi Driver lines in front of a camera again, according to reports.
Taxi Driver has remained one of De Niro’s most critically praised roles ever and the movie received its due recognition with multitudes of accolades. This included the Palme d’Or at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival and four nominations at the 49th Academy Awards, with a Best Actor nod for De Niro, who was 32 at the time.

Reports claim that Robert De Niro will soon be telling some iconic lines from The Taxi Driver in true Travis Bickle style for an Uber ad. One of the most famous lines from De Niro is, of course, “You talkin’ to me?”, and a source further revealed that instead of New York City, the ad will be filmed in London.
While Taxi Driver may be considered too much of a dark and neo-noir psychological thriller film to be referenced in an ad, the source claims that it is the popularity of these classic films that prompt advertisers to take exception.
“‘A lot of people feel like some of these classic films are his best work, and signing up to commercials is selling out a bit, but obviously he’s had a very expensive personal life,” the source added.
Robert De Niro has no plans to retire
Even after five decades of enjoying the celebrity life in Hollywood, Robert De Niro has no plans for retirement. Even in 2023, De Niro has been seen in multiple films and other TV projects including Killers of the Flower Moon, About My Father, Nada, and Ezra.
Speaking of his constant presence on the big screen as well as small screen, De Niro revealed that it is his love for movies that still drives him to create more and never think of retirement.
“My main interest has always been movies — making them, directing them, being involved. I have never lost the passion for that. I don’t really think of retirement. I don’t know what else I would do other than what I’m doing,” the Raging Bull star gushed.
