Christian Bale admitted he 'acted like a punk' after losing temper on Terminator Salvation set

Christian Bale once lost his temper on set whilst filming 2009’s Terminator Salvation and later profusely apologized for what he had said in his rant. The famous recording of the actor losing his cool went viral and caused a storm before the movie even came out.

The Hollywood star was on set filming a scene for the science fiction film when he began shouting at a member of the crew for “distracting” him. His tirade was caught on tape and the audio was released publically by TMZ. Christian later apologized for his explicit hurl of abuse and called it an “incredibly embarrassing meltdown.”

Christian Bale’s Terminator Salvation rant went viral

In February 2009, gossip website TMZ released the audio tape in which Christian Bale can be heard having a rant while on the set of Terminator Salvation. He shouts in the clip of his anger at the director of photography, Shane Hurlbu. Shane had apparently walked around on set while filming was taking place and it “distracted” Christian.

The movie star can be heard saying: “Am I going to walk around and rip your f****** lights down, in the middle of a scene? Then why the f*** are you walking right through? Ah-da-da-dah, like this in the background. What the f*** is it with you? What don’t you f****** understand? You got any f****** idea about, hey, it’s f****** distracting having somebody walking up behind Bryce in the middle of the f****** scene? Give me a f****** answer! What don’t you get about it?”

After being told by Shane he was “looking at the lights” Christian responded: “Oh good for you. And how was it? I hope it was f****** good, because it’s useless now, isn’t it?”

He told him he was going to “kick your a**” and didn’t want Shane to stay on set.

The American Psycho actor told the member of the crew: “You do it one more f****** time and I ain’t walking on this set if you’re still hired. I’m ——- serious. You’re a nice guy. You’re a nice guy, but that don’t f****** cut it when you’re ——- around like this on set.”

He apologized for his rant and said he ‘acted like a punk’

Christian Bale later apologized for his rant that took over the set of Terminator Salvation. He added the two men had discussed the matter the same day.

The celebrity told LA-based radio station KROQ: “I was out of order beyond belief. I make no excuses for it. There is nobody who has heard that tape who has been hit harder than me. The one thing that disturbs me so much is that I’ve heard a lot of people saying that I seem to think that I’m better than anybody else.

“Nothing could be farther from the truth. I am a lucky man, I never forget that and that is why I put so much into what I do, and why I care so much about it and why sometimes that enthusiasm just goes awry.”

He explained he had gotten a little too into his character, John Connor, who in the film leads the human resistance to the machine masters. He said he was trying to express John’s “craziness.”

“I’m half John Connor, I’m half Christian there.”

He continued: “When I say ‘I’m not coming back on this set unless he’s fired’, it’s hot air,” he said. “I don’t want anyone to misunderstand this: I’ve seen a rough cut of the movie, and he has done a really wonderful, professional job on this.

“I know some people are thinking, ‘I’m not going to see this movie’ because they think I’m a prima donna. Everybody worked so hard on this movie. Please, don’t allow my incredibly embarrassing meltdown to overshadow this movie and to have all of those people’s hard work go to waste.”
