Attorney's wife is charged with shooting him dead and burning his remains
The wife of a prominent Atlanta attorney has been arrested for allegedly shooting dead her husband and burning his remains in a wooded area on their $1 million property a year ago.
Melody Farris, 59, was taken into custody on Tuesday one year after the charred remains of her husband Gary Farris were discovered hidden on the property by their son.
Farris is charged with malice murder, aggravated assault and concealing a body.
The 58-year-old's remains were located on the 10-acre property in Cherokee County, north of Atlanta, in July last year by the couple's son.

Police confirmed weeks later that the body was that of Gary - the founder of the Atlanta office for the regional law firm Burr & Forman.
His remains were so badly burned that it took investigators months to determine that Gary had been shot dead.
Police said at the time that it was likely Gary had been killed by someone that he knew.
They have been investigating his murder ever since.
It is not clear if Farris was considered a suspect right from the beginning.

Gary's wife was taken into custody in Tennessee on Tuesday night where she had been staying with a friend.
Detectives believe she shot her husband inside their home before trying to dispose of his body.
They said she burned his remains to get rid of any evidence.
Police have not revealed an official motive but did say the couple had marital issues.
Farris is being held without bond in Manchester, Tennessee, and is expected to be extradited to Georgia.
